摘要
The paper discusses the durability of culvert pipe materials from a corrosion and abrasion viewpoint. Field and laboratory tests have been used to predict deterioration rates for a given environment. Corrosion indicators used include pH of soil and water, soil resistivity or conductivity, polarization curves, oxidation-reduction potential, soil chemical and physical properties, precipitation, and stream-flow velocities. Materials used for drainage pipe include steel, aluminum, concrete, vitrified clay, stainless steel, cast iron, and plastic. Pipe protection measures include extra material thickness, coatings of various types, linings, and cathodic protection.
