FUELS FOR AUTOMOBILES.

Having reviewed the recent investigations in the field, the author came to a conclusion that in the near future there would appear no worthy alternatives for replacing the existing automobile internal combustion engines and the current petroleum-based automotive fuels. Therefore, an effort should be made to assure energy saving through automotive technology and development of alternative fuels without imposing significant changes on the existing engines, e. g. , by blending gasoline with alcohols. Coal resources should be utilized much more. The use of electric-powered vehicles can provide petroleum savings.
