Advances in Continuous Casting and Rolling of Steel Wire Rod.

Continuous casting and rolling of steel wire rod is still in its early stages although the compelling need for further development has resulted in considerable progress. Two of the well-known methods of continuous casting and rolling now being used in the production of aluminum and copper wire rod have been further developed for the manufacture of steel wire rod. In Japan alone two steel mills are turning out wire rod by the continuous casting and rolling process with the use of casting wheel facilities.
