The author reviews the key features of the French pulp and paper industry, underlining the industry's supply problems and shortcomings, including the cost of domestic wood and inadequate size of the mills. Further, research work conducted at the Technical Center for Paper (CTR) for the purpose of achieving raw material savings is detailed.
