摘要
Oil reserves in the vast Asia/Pacific region are perhaps the largest yet untapped area for commercial production. Total reserves are still conjectural. Government and industry believe the area has good prospects and an overall decent business climate. The outlook for the long term is optimistic, but problems remain for the near term. Active producing areas in the S. E. Asia/Pacific region include the People's Republic of China (China), Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Australia/New Zealand. Taking an average of published estimates of total crude oil recovery, Russia has about 122 billion barrels, Latin America has 102 billion barrels, and North Africa has 51 billion barrels. Demonstrated reserves for S. E. Asia/Pacific can be anywhere from 39. 5 billion barrels to about 130 billion barrels, all depending on what figures are used for Indonesia, China and Malaysia.
