Study of the compositions of reaction products at various stages of reduction of phosphorus from Ca//3P//2O//8 in presence of various amounts of quartzite showed that in the case of basic mixtures the primary product is a glass phase containing calcium ions and metasilicate groups. The primary product of reduction of an acid mixture is a glass phase of metasilicate composition, and the final products are a glass phase, calcium meta- and orthosilicates, and an admixture of calcium pyrosilicate.
