Modern techniques being applied to zinc pressure diecasting are giving the process a competitive edge compared with more recent plastics-molding processes. This article discusses whey zinc should be considered as a molding material by engineering designers. Among the points covered are machine measurement and control of the process, computer aids, comparison with alternatives, production, materials properties, machining, finishing, and others.
