Education in the field of Technical communication has not kept pace with the growth of the profession. An examination of the qualifications of a professional technical communicator, i. e. , a grasp of basic sciences, an understanding of communication theory and practice, and a sensitivity to people, provides the basis for a formal curriculum in technical communications.
