Investigation of Self-Excited Vibrations of Flexible Rotors under the Effect of Hydrodynamic Forces in Sliding Bearings.

Conditions of dynamic stability of rotors, on an oily film in sliding bearings are considered. Based on an analysis of works on components of the hydrodynamic reaction, the mechanism of the onset of self-induced vibrations is investigated. To some extent, this analysis reveals the mechanism of transformation of the energy of rotation of the rotor into the energy of vibration during its onset. It should be noted, however, that the presence of hydrodynamic forces capable of causing self-excited oscillations are not, in themselves, a sufficient condition for their generation. Vibrations develop only when the total work of accelerating forces exceeds the work of forces braking the motion of the journal.
