摘要：

The engineering advantages of titanium and its alloys are the superior strength to weight ratio, specific modulus and fatigue resistance. The authors outline the significant technical advances which have been made to overcome the problems in handling the molten metal because of its high melting point and high reactivity. Covered are vacuum melting, centrifugal casting, mold manufacture and casting quality. 2 Refs.
