Major U. K. proposals on how to deal with machinery noise control are surveyed. Recommendations on noise abatement are given separately for machines classified into three groups: high, moderate and low noise machines. The extent of the noise problem is discussed. Noise measurement scales are indicated. A method is given of averaging noise exposure over the working day.
