摘要
The superiority of the multivariable finite element model based on the generalized virtual work principles is used for elasto-plastic fracture analysis accompanied with the finite displacement theory. By using this model and 'breakable element' concept an accurate algorithm simulating the crack growth is formulated. The numerical examples have demonstrated that the algorithm in this study can be used to predict both the stable and unstable growth of a line crack. The rupture effective strain was used as a fracture criterion and a comparison was made between this criterion and some others.
