摘要
The experience of Northwest Pipeline Corp., Salk Lake City, indicates that systematic management of geologic hazards can be a part of an overall risk management program. The company operates its 3900 mile plus, natural gas mainline and numerous laterals that provide service to customers in six states. The pipelines were exposed to numerous potential geologic hazards and have resulted in significant damages. Northwest has addressed these situations by detailed investigations to characterize and mitigate the specific hazard. The company has developed and implemented methods to identify and characterize the location, nature and magnitude of the geologic hazards. These methods were formalized into a comprehensive program for managing these hazards.
