The optical constants of titanium nitride synthesized by laser irradiation in the spectral range 1-5 ev are determined from ellipsometric measurements. For comparison the optical properties of titanium nitride obtained by sintering and by an ionic bombardment (IB) method are studied. Using Drude-Zener theory as a starting point, the relaxation time and frequency of plasma vibrations of conductivity electrons are determined in the near IR region of the spectrum. It is suggested that titanium nitride synthesized by laser irradiation has a more perfect crystal structure than that synthesized by other methods.
