HAZARDOUS WASTES AND SLUDGE TREATMENT.

More rigorous identification of wastes combined with increasing regulatory restrictions on landfill disposal has intensified interest in alternate methods such as incineration as well as new and emerging technology for disposal of sludge and other materials. Due to the wide array in chemical and physical characteristics of wastes, a broad diversity in techniques exist. Combustion is an economical and efficient means of incinerating/destroying solid/ liquid/gaseous/aqueous waste streams. Combustion in one form or another has long been employed for waste streams disposal. Incineration designs available and widely employed in the market place include: combustion chambers, multiple hearth furnaces, rotary kilns, fluidized beds. Innovative technologies are discussed.
