No matter what product is packaged, conveyors are essential to the smooth flow of a line. Their efficiency in moving product, containers, closures and finished packages from point A to point B represents critical cost-savings to the packager. They differ in how they operate and how they interrelate with other packaging equipment on a typical line. The article briefly describes different conveyor types: air conveying; augers; belt conveying; converging/diverting conveyors; elevating/lowering conveyors; live-roller conveyors; magnetic conveyors; pneumatic or aeromechanical conveyors; telescoping conveyors; turning conveyors; vibratory conveyors.
