摘要
To become a licensed `engineer', an individual should be willing to meet a minimum of standard of education, experience, and examination to demonstrate their technical competence and their concern for the welfare of the public. The philosophy and content of the national examinations are discussed. There are two eight-hour examinations, the first called the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) and the second called the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE). All licensing jurisdictions use the same examinations, which are prepared and scored by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). All jurisdictions require exactly the same score to be met or exceeded in order to demonstrate minimum technical competence.
