Mine valuers and planners are frequently called on to devise alternative mining systems at the feasibility study stage; for example, a much-used algorithm in open pit design requires that individual blocks of ground are valued and their mining costs determined. The study examines the possibility of valuing small blocks of ground, at different information levels on the basis of their errors of estimation.
