摘要
The author suggests that production of gasoline and other liquid fuels from natural gas should receive serious consideration in the Middle East and Arctic oil-producing regions. Fischer-Tropsch Technology offers an alternative to liquefaction or chemical manufacture by conventional means, especially where gas produced with oil is flared. The Fischer-Tropsch process can be used to convert methane to gasoline and heavier hydrocarbons, plus unsaturated hydrocarbons and chemical by-products. Investment required would be less, and marketing would be easier.
