Latest developments in the powder coating technology, broadening of the its range of applications and its advantages over thermal curing, are discussed. UV-cured powder coatings have enabled to powder coat wider variety of materials such as wood composite materials, assembled products with steel and heat-sensitive components, metal products, plastics, and other materials having tolerance of atleast 90°C temperatures. The discussion also included various parameters in the development and design of a UV-cure powder coating like substrate quality, UV powder type, substrate surface preparations, part hanging methods, preheating the substrates, powder applications, melting and curing the powder and cooling the parts.
