In the paper, one of the pressure-pulse methods, often referred to as the laser-induced pressure-pulse (LIPP) method, is described and recent results on charge or polarization distributions obtained with this method for two polymers are discussed. Since use of the LIPP method requires knowledge about ultrasonic velocity and attenuation in the samples, new data on this subject are also given for a number of polymers.
