摘要
In the navigation department of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Japan, fuel-saving effects in various functions have been studied (with respect to navigation plans, route tracking, course keeping, and steering), and the results have been incorporated in the development of a comprehensive navigation system. This system is composed of the Mitsubishi Optimum Navigation Planning System (TONAC-N2), Fuel Saving Autopilot (TONAC-P1), and Fuel Saving Steering Engine. TONAC-N2 is a system for optimum route planning and route analysis on the basis of navigational information from satellite navigation systems and various sensors, and the weather data stored in the memory, which has a microcomputer in its core.
