The paper deals with the analysis, classification and solution of the singular cases of constraint mechanical systems. It is shown that singular cases are not exceptional because they can occur quite frequently. The only reliable way to distinguish and solve them is an analytical approach based on computation of the rank of a certain matrix. The common base of treating singular cases in statics, kinematics and dynamics is proposed and examples of simple singular systems are described.
