摘要
Performance of the grinding process is dependent on the topography of the grinding wheel surface which, in turn, results from the basic wheel specification and superimposed dressing conditions. If a satisfactory method can be found to specify the abrasive surface, a better means will be available for assessing its effect on the output of the grinding process, i. e. workpiece removal rate, surface finish, wheel wear, etc. An analysis of wheel profiles obtained by direct, limited penetration depth stylus scanning is reported in which the effects of wheel specification, dressing conditions and type of dressing tool employed on the fine structure of the wheel profile are studied.
