This paper is devoted to the problem of the stability of masonry heating walls under the influence of pressure of the coal charge during coking. The authors show that the existing methods for calculating stability and strength of heating walls requires significant reworking, especially with respect to furnace chambers of increased height. A mathematical model of a heating wall in the form of a design-orthotropic plate with averaged rigidity parameters enables us to evaluate the stresses that develop in the masonry of heating walls under the influence of the pressure of the coal charge during coking. The obtained values are consistent with practical data on the nature of disrupted masonry of heating walls in chambers of different height.
