摘要
The ultrasonic examination of PISC III (Program for the Inspection of Steel Components III) wrought-to-cast (W/C) and cast-to-cast (C/C) austenitic stainless steel assemblies is reported. The report parallels the report on wrought-to-wrought austenitic stainless steel assemblies, including the PISC terminology used. Flaws in the W/C assemblies included lack-of-sidewall fusion, lack-of-interrun fusion, porosity, EDM notches simulating PISC Type A flaws, and side-drilled holes simulating lack-of-sidewall fusion. Flaws in the C/C assemblies included EDM notches, fatigue cracks, lack-of-interrun fusion, and side-drilled holes simulating lack-of-sidewall fusion. EDM notches were found in welds and heat-affected zones.
