Effect of the Type of Microstructure on the Hydrogen Diffusion Coefficient in Titanium Alloys.

A method of estimating the hydrogen diffusion coefficient in titanium alloys at temperatures close to room temperature is proposed which eliminates the influence of surface effects. It is shown that the hydrogen diffusion coefficient in VT6 titanium alloy with a platelet structure is approximately two orders of magnitude higher than in VT6 alloy with a fine-grained uniaxial structure.
