Theoretical considerations of rubber and plastics extrusion and mixing process are accompanied by mathematical equations which describe the most essential features of both technological processes. Extruder screw designs are presented for single-screw extruders and twin-screw extruders. The Transfer mix system with its radical departure from traditional design practice has been shown to be the best single-screw continuous mixer.
