Calculation of the no-load voltage waveform of hybrid AC-DC supply generators

For hybrid AC-DC supply generators (HADSG), the AC line voltage distortion and the DC voltage ripple are of special interest. But their accurate calculation is rather difficult, especially considering the saturation of the magnetic path. This paper presents a mathematical model set up by using the multi-loop method and FEM for a hybrid AC-DC supply generator with two sets of windings on the stator to provide AC power and rectified DC output at the same time. It is aimed at accurately calculating the no-load characteristics and the waveforms of AC windings. This method considers the full synergistic effects of the space harmonics resulting from the magnetic circuit geometry, saliency, saturation, winding layouts, slotting, and skewing of the slot. The calculated results are consistent with experimental results.
