摘要
Based on the excellent performance of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) and its applications in the flexural capacity strengthening of concrete structures, a method of strengthening a damaged girder of a concrete cable-stayed bridge with reinforced UHPC was proposed. A model test was conducted on a seriously damaged girder strengthened by UHPC to explore the performance enhancement of the cable-stayed bridge system. The test results show a good overall cooperative performance of the reinforcement construction method with UHPC for the concrete cable-stayed bridge girder. Debonding failures between the UHPC layer and the original concrete girder are not found during the tests. The cracking load of the strengthened girder increased by 79. 9% compared with the original undamaged main beam. The large numbers of cracks with small gaps and narrow widths on the UHPC layer were found, which can effectively suppress the crack propagation on the original concrete girder. The strengthened cable-stayed bridge system has good recovery capacity and mechanical performance after loading process even under different cases of crack widths and seriously damaged situations. After strengthened by UHPC layer, the flexural capacity of the girder increases while the ultimate bearing capacity of the cable-stayed bridge system will not be limited. The cable stress only achieved 70. 2% to its ultimate strength when the strengthened girder was damaged. The system stiffness of the cable-stayed bridge with severely damaged girder is effectively improved. The system stiffness with UHPC strengthened girder before the cracking load increased by 11. 3% compared to the case with undamaged girder and 29. 5% compared to the case with normal reinforcement girder, respectively. The work demonstrate the significant performance of UHPC to strengthen the flexural capacity of cable-stayed bridge girder, and show the promising future of the proposed method in practices. © 2023 Xi'an Highway University.
