Experiment on LATS refining ladle slags modifying with B2O3-CaO and CaF2-CaO

To avoid slag sticking onto the ladle immersion cover during LATS refining process, B2O3-CaO and CaF2-CaO were employed as modifiers which was added to the ladle slags respectively. The results show that the melting point and viscosity of ladle slags are decreased effectively by adding B2O3-CaO and CaF2-CaO. The results of sulfur equilibrium partition between metal and slag indicate that the ladle slag can not incur the increase of sulfur after modification, on the contrary the sulfur content of steel can be decreased further.
