Molecular rectifier based on [4-[(N-(2-thiolethyl), N'-methyl)amino]phenyl]tricyanoethene (TAPE)

[4-[(N-(2-thiolethyl), N'-methyl)amino]phenyl]tricyanoethene (TAPE), a kind of conjugated organic molecule with sulfhydryl group, was synthesized. Molecular rectifier Au/TAPE/Au (nanoparticle) was prepared by self-assembled monolayer (SAM) method. The current-voltage (I-V) character was measured by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), a maximum rectification ratio of 22.7 was obtained at the bias voltage of ± 0.95 V. The electrical property of the monolayer, fore-and-aft top electrode's preparation process, was studied. The organic monolayer was characterized by grazing incidence FTIR.
