Research on the calibration methods for turntables of automobile four-wheel aligners

For inability of calibrating turntables of four-wheel aligners, virtual prototype technology based on SolidWorks platform was applied. Turntables' movement track in test process was accounted. A rapid calibration apparatus which adopted four-bar parallel configuration was designed and manufactured. Theory of calibration apparatus was explained. The method tracing the measurement to the national standard was presented. The turntable results of four-wheel aligners were inspected. Experiment shows that measurement error is more than 0.5° when the turntable is 20°, which is not coincident with industry standard. The turntables should be calibrated regularly. The calibration apparatus resolves the problem of tracing the measurement to the national standard for four-wheel aligners' turntable results.
