Synthesis and properties of floriated SnS2 microspheres as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries

Uniform floriated SnS2 microspheres with the diameter of 1 μm were synthesized by hydrothermal method using SnCl4 · 5H2O and L-cysteine as raw material. The obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Nitrogen adsorption-desorption measurement (BET). Electrochemical tests show that the first discharge capacity of floriated SnS2 microspheres as anode materials of lithium-ion batteries was 1379.5 mAh · g-1 and the discharge capacity remained 400 mAh · g-1 after 30 cycles at 1 C current density.
