摘要
The influence of the total length and shorter side length of the tapered end of the square cross-sectional metal thin-walled component on the crashworthiness is studied, where the specific energy absorption (SEA) is taken as the objective function by using the response surface method (RSM) on a basis of the explicit finite element (FE) algorithm. The main purpose of the research is to improve the crashworthiness of the thin-walled component for energy-absorption. The response surface of SEA with respect to the total length and shorter side length of the tapered end of the square cross-sectional thin-walled component is obtained through the numerical analysis. The conclusions can be thus used to the optimal design of the practical energy-absorbing element and the further study.
