Nonlinear vibration of the soft sandwich beam

The nonlinear dynamical response of a sandwich beam subjected to impact loadings, which is composed of leaf metal and compressible soft material, is studied in this paper. Firstly, based on Hamilton principle, the nonlinear dynamic control equation of the system is established; then, the calculation formula for a simple beam is developed based on Galerkin method. In the end, the dynamical response for the model under impact load and periodical load is investigated through numerical simulations. The results show that the model can predict the dynamical response of the sandwich and two constrained layers well, and the displacement response is greatly different.
