Corrosion inhibition process of green compound inhibitors for carbon steel in sea water

Corrosion inhibition process of green compound inhibitors (CaGL, ZnSO4 and OCTA) for carbon steel in sea water was studied by electrochemical method (polarization and EIS). The results showed that single ZnSO4 was cathodic inhibitor, CaGL and OCTA were anodic inhibitors, and the mixture was cathodic and anodic inhibitors. The film formation process of the mixture on carbon steel surface was considered basically that GL2- ions, OCTA and metal ions in solution reacted to be three dimensional complex adsorption films, and meanwhile Zn2+ ions reacted to be precipitation film on cathode. The two kinds of film interacted and the protective character of the films was strengthened mutually.
