According to the characteristics of complex product, assembly modeling technology of complex product in virtual environment was proposed and analyzed, including model representation and assembly model. The model representation was carried out with hybrid form of accurate model and mesh model. Based on the unit classification, a four-leveled multi-hierarchical correlative model based on unit was built. With assembly modeling, the flow of virtual assembly simulation was established. It verifies the effectiveness of assembly modeling with a ship assembly modeling example.
