Rotor periodic vibration suppression for controlled magnetic levitation system

To efficiently suppress the rotor periodic vibration in rotating mechanism, a controller combining PID control and repetitive control is presented for an active magnetic bearing(AMB). The PID controller ensures the system dynamic response, and the add-on type repetitive controller effects of removes the periodic disturbance from the rotor vibration. The effects of proportional gain and cut-off frequency of repetitive controller on bearing response speed and stability is discussed, and the controller's design and corresponding parameters tuning method are presented. The experiments are conducted with a high-speed magnetic levitation motor. The experimental results show the validities to suppress the rotor periodic vibration, reduce the third order harmonic components, and improve the control precision of AMB.
