Numerical investigation of compressibility effects on supersonic combustion with transverse injection

Supersonic combustion flow fields with transverse injection were simulated to study the compressibility effect utilizing the modified k-Ε turbulence model including dilatational compressibility and shock unsteadiness effects with comprehensive kinetic mechanism of H2/air reaction GRI-Mech 2.11, 10 components, 28 elementary reactions. The results show that the modified k-Ε model can resolve the complex supersonic flow field with transverse injection, and the flow separation is strengthened and turbulent mixing process depressed due to compressibility effect, resulted in that supersonic combustion flow fields are affected significantly. Thus, compressibility effect should be included in numerical simulations.
