摘要
The authors present a technique to reduce the order of state-space system matrix using the principle of participation. This technique uses the participation factor as a measure of relativity between system state variables and eigenvalues. An improved pole assignment controller based on this technique is then used to damp low-frequency oscillation that occurs between different areas in a power system. The controller operates in such a way that all parallel-connected areas of the power system can be acted upon simultaneously in a coordinated way. The modelling of the power system in state space and the control strategy are specified. The effectiveness of both the proposed model reduction technique and the used controller in damping the low-frequency oscillation is assessed by computer simulation, and some of the obtained results are presented.
