Oxidation behavior of ignition-proof magnesium-calcium alloys

摘要
The oxidation property of pure magnesium at elevated temperature was investigated by differential thermal analysis (DTA) and oxidation dynamic curves. The results revealed that pure magnesium is oxidized slowly and can surely not ignite at low-temperature. However, when the temperature is in the range of 873 K to near melting point, magnesium will be oxidized acutely. Therefore, it is suggested that the future research and development of ignition proof magnesium alloys should place emphasis on the microstructure, thermodynamics and dynamics of the surface oxidation film at near-melting point temperature, which has a great significance to the development of ignition proof magnesium alloys.
