Elaborate design - The basis for building intrinsic energy-saving refineries

Since coming into the 21st century, SINOPEC Engineering Incorporation (SEI) has successively planned and constructed many grassroots 10-million-ton refineries, modified or expanded many existing petrochemical plants. During the planning and construction of these refineries, SEI always sticks to principles of constructing refineries in the new century, i.e. advanced technology, reasonable investment, resource conservation, energy consumption reduction and good economic benefit. Now some refineries have been put into operation, and the others are still under construction. The operation results show that good economic and social benefits have been achieved. Two typical refineries are taken as the examples in this paper, through the comparison of refinery-wide energy consumption with that of main process units, the application of energy-saving technologies and energy saving potential are analyzed, and major energy-saving measures are advanced.
