The Department for Transport (DfT) has recently proposed plans to improve the safety of 'smart motorways’ - but will they be smart enough to prevent further loss of life on our roads? A DESPERATE 999 call makes for harrowing listening - it’s from a father whose family car has broken down in a live lane of traffic on the M6 near Knutsford just before a lorry smashes into the back of them.
