Rolls and their covers

Rolls and roll covers have a significant function within a paper machine and are thereby highly crucial to product quality and process stability in paper production. The optimum performance with respect to the product quality and efficiency of the paper machine requires the best possible interaction between the roll cover, roll geometry, and clothing, with a specified machine structure. This begins with the selection of the roll cover and with determining the ideal material and surface design. Extensive analyses take place of the respective application at the outset, which are instrumental in successful implementation of the roll cover. The nip geometry and the dewatering performance in interaction with the clothing is viewed in more detail with a roll from the field for a roll that is used to dewater the paper web. Thermographic analysis and the electronic nip-improve measurement form two important measures for analyzing and optimizing the situation.
