An an exploration permit acquired by Silvercorp Metals Inc of Vancouver, Canada for the Gaocheng (GC) silver-lead-zinc property in southern China in April 2008, would have significant potential as it was ready to start production. Silvercorp's new property was indeed in a hostile part of the world, but it had significant potential and excitement. Silvercorp also continued with exploration activities on the property and results such as intercepts of 3.88 m and 2.12m grading 609 grams per ton and 1,684 grams per ton of silver along with many new discoveries were encouraging, while it was proceeding with construction of a mine at GC. The company moved forward to build and develop a 12-year mine with significant mining reserves and deposits. The mine design featured two ramps, including the main ramp and the exploration ramp;
