Study on coatings formed on the pre-oxidized NiTi wires by micro-arc oxidation

Well-distributed micro porous coatings with Ca, P component were prepared by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) on the surface of oxidized state NiTi wires. The coatings in different treatment time were observed and tested by SEM and EPMA, and the blood compatibility of coatings was studied. As to the pre-oxidized NiTi wires after MAO treatment, the ratio of Ti/Ni and Ca, P content in coatings raised with the prolonged oxidation time. After MAO for 20 seconds good quality and well-distributed micro porous coatings were acquired. The average pore size of micro porous on surface was about 1μm, and no crack was found on the surface of coatings. The platelet adhesion test showed superior blood compatibility of the coatings.
