Ignition mode of non-thermal nanosecond-pulse transient plasma

The paper presents the results of non-thermal transient plasma and thermal transient plasma ignition for delay reduction of quiescent ethene-air mixture in a cylinder combustion chamber. The non-thermal transient plasma and thermal transient plasma were produced by nanosecond high voltage pulse discharge. The results from experiments indicated that electrical energy consumption of non-thermal transient plasma was lower than that of thermal transient plasma. Non-thermal transient plasma ignition has demonstrated reductions in ignition delay compared to thermal transient plasma ignition.
