Three typical deep directional wells in the Dagang oilfield were studied to explore a matching drilling technology suit appropriate for deep well drilling. Optimization of the drilling fluid system, application of precise managed pressure (PMP) drilling technology, along with the employment of combined complex drilling technology with high efficient polycrystalline diamond compact bit and screw motor, were employed to achieve the fastest drilling results. Field implementation indicated that the achievement of quicker drilling mainly contributed for the improvement of average ROP, better organization of the process, as well as the successful completion operation. Blockings of electric log and acoustic amplitude log were the main reasons for relatively long well completion periods, and highly targeted research should be done in future to overcome these problems. The combined drilling technology introduced here can offer technical support to deep oil and gas exploration in the Dagang oilfield. © 2015 ejge.
