The dynamic stall process of a wind turbine airfoil DU91-W2-250 segment with different shape vortex generators (VGs) in sinusoidal pitching motion is studied by using k - ω SST model. The results show that VGs can inhibit the dynamic stall and significantly improve the aerodynamic performance of the airfoil segment during the dynamic stall process, especially in the pitch down stage. The shape of VGs affects the dynamic stall process of airfoil segment. The streamwise vortex decay rate of VGs with higher front height is slower, which can transfer more mainstream energy to the boundary layer fluid, enhance the ability of the boundary layer to withstand adverse pressure, and obtain better separation suppression effect and aerodynamic performance enhancement effect, the effect of increasing lift is more obvious than that of reducing drag. © 2021, Science Press.
